Data Rescue is the #1 selling, most-awarded recovery software on the Mac platform. With this special App Store version, you can recover data from external, non-boot drives. Compatible with Mac OS X 10.7 Lion!

Read real reviews from magazines and search online at to see hundreds of 4 and 5 star reviews.

External, non-boot drives that show up in Disk Utility, but will not mount can be recovered with Data Rescue 3 External Drive Recovery. If you've deleted files from an external, non-boot drive, you can use Data Rescue 3 External Drive Recovery to scan that drive to find previously-deleted files.

Data Rescue 3 EDR cannot recover an ethernet or wifi-connected hard drive. Network Drives can have various file systems on them (HFS+, Linux, etc) and Data Rescue does not support all these file systems. It is recommended that you download the Data Rescue 3 demo from our website to scan your network drive (which must be connected via FireWire or USB) to see if Data Rescue can see the files on it.

This product worked great, I highly recommend it! - My IT person told me about Data Rescue and to try it since my external Seagate drive wasn't mounting anymore. It worked perfectly!

Application was a total waste of money!!! - I just bought this software with the hopes of repairing an external drive the OSX disc utility could not. I have two external drives connected to my laptop, Data Rescue does'nt recognize either of them, even though they appear in The OSX disc utitlity and one of the drives, I know is just fine. A prompt appears, "no image showing up, click here for more information" When you click you are directed to the Data Rescue website, where for a fee you can ship your hard drive to their facility to have it repaired. So I've just spent $59ºº for a program that doesn't even recognize that external drives are connected to my computer, and I'm told that, if my external drive is not visible, I should consider sending it to their state of the art facility to get it repaired. Even though one of the drives is just fine. I feel like I just got hustled and the company is playing upon my vulnerability. Why is this application on the App store. How do you get a refund?

Does NOT recognize any External Drive. Just like the recent reviews state! - OMG I can’t believe I failed to read the reviews. Spending $60 for absolutely nothing is very painful. For me it was the product statement of “External, non-boot drives that show up in Disk Utility, but will not mount can be recovered with Data Rescue 3 External Drive Recovery” that sold me. Since my external drive was appearing in Disk Utility but wouldn’t mount. That is the problem statement that lead me to the App Store for a solution. it was that statement that lead me to purchase the product (failing to do due diligence and read the reviews) . It is that statement that I can verify is wholly false. The external non boot drive was not picked up by this product. Worse yet about ths product - I grabbed up all my external drives (good ones, mount fine) and one by one tested them all with the product (trying refresh volumes, trying relaunching, etc, etc.) and found that this product failed to recognize every external drive every time.

Absolutely Essential - No serious Mac user, let alone an administrator, should go without this product. Don't hesitate, just get it. I have wasted many hours over the past few years trying to recover files the wrong way. When I corrupted the B-tree for our LaCie 1 TB (2x500 mirrored) today, Disk Utility was useless (and very discouraging). I recovered a few fragments of files with other utilities, then tried Data Rescue 3. It recovered everything on the drive. And it made the job simple.

I was able to recover 35,000 + files... - …after being told by 2 people at my local Apple Store, 3 people from the Geek Squad, and 4 random other "computer nerds" that I would never see my data again. I had an external hardware RAID 0 setup that stopped mounting in Finder. (After passing a recent Disk verify!) I found that there was nothing wrong with the hardware, but the data on the drive had been corrupted. (Disk Utility can tell you if you have a hardware issue or not) Every so-called expert I spoke to told me that I was out-of-luck. Data Rescue 3 was my last ditch effort to recover the files on that RAID 0. I was relunctant to shell out the $60 for the app- not knowing if it would work or not. However, I was very satisfied with how easy, and thorough the application was at doing exactly what it's supposed to. Every file that I wanted is now happily restored, and I can continue with my work!

Worthless - Read the material claiming that this program can identify "lost and deleted files" on external hard drives and thought I would use it to copy files I have on a hanging hard drive thanks to TimeMachine. I loaded the software it spun for 3 seconds and said there were no files. My external LaCie will mount, it will actually list the folders, but I cannot access the files. The drive still shows 350 GB of data, but I can't seem to access it. Apparently the "Backups.backupdb" file will not disengage and has locked the system, it will not eject without being forced. Since I was just trying to copy the files and not repair the disk, I assumed this would have been an easy job for Data Rescue, but apparently not. I should have saved the $60 and paid up for DiskWarrior.

When all else failed! - Very very good app. My disk wouldn't mount and other softwares just couldn't get my files. Data Recovery 3 EDR did. Now, I have all my files again, exactly the same way they were before the crash. It's like nothing happen. The interface is nice, but moving a bit too much for me. It's very easy to use however and the instructions along the way are very helpful. Very impressed overall and highly recommended!
