Description:

Have you ever wondered what could happen if time travel was a reality? Have you ever thought about the possibility of going back in time to rewrite history for the better? That possibility is a reality in Darkest of Days, where players will travel back and forth through the annals of time to relive some of mankind's most dire hours.

By fighting through terrible events such as The Battle of Antietam, the bloodiest conflict of the Civil War, and both World War I and II, the player will attempt to save certain key individuals who were never meant to become involved in these truly monstrous events and thereby change human history for the better.

Features

Brand New Engine: The dedicated team at 8monkey Labs has created an all-new, groundbreaking game engine known as Marmoset. The Marmoset engine not only breaks from the all-too present Unreal engine FPS clones flooding the market, but also allows for some amazing graphical capabilities. You'll fight through epic battles filled with literally hundreds of NPCs on the screen at the same time, all with an advanced AI and all without a hint of graphical slowdown and all set against wide-open environments that are lushly detailed and dynamically lighted.

Compelling Storyline: Darkest of Days is a compelling, action-packed first-person shooter to be sure, but it's not just mindless run-and-gun, blow 'em up gameplay. You'll have to not only think about how to approach certain key battles and situations, but you'll also have to take care when fighting — certain key people that were never meant to die will be marked with a special blue aura. If you kill them, you'll face dire consequences…

Wreak Havoc with Future Weapons in Antiquity: Something nearly every gamer that's ever played a shooter based in the past has always wanted is the ability to bring a futuristic weapon back through history and kick some major butt. How differently would Custer's last stand have turned out if the General was equipped with an M-16 assault rifle? You'll be able to answer questions like this in Darkest of Days. While not every battle and situation will allow you to wield weapons from the future, there will be plenty of opportunities for you to unleash futuristic fury on your unsuspecting foes.

Great Concept, followed with Great Lag - The game features and concept are great, but I have had this game one day and it has quite three times already. I am running this program on a 15 inch top of the line macbook pro with all the neccesary graphic cards and what not. Warning to buyers: the first level when playing in the battle of little big rock will lag like none other, don't loose hope there as the level after that are fine-ish. Needs update for full stars. Some of the dead boddies are still standing when there dead which can be pretty anoying as well. hope this helped, overal i would wait for an update to buy unless you have a high end macbook pro Update: The game keeps glitching and become unresponsive when i open any battle now. I have tried re downloading it and everything and it still crashes and forces me to restart my computer

Don't Buy This Game…... - This is the very first time ever…. that I have been disappointed by anything purchased for my Mac or from an Apple business…. The game took well over 12 hours to load and even when I have a fast connection and had checked the connection for issues prior to download. Once loaded, the next day….. the thing does not run and every time that I launch the application it locks up my Mac… My Mac is recent, above all the recomended minimums that the developer indicated, and had never given me any issues UNTIL I installed this lousy game. I want my money back and I want this thing off my Mac. I looked around for a way to contact Apple from the App store and can't seem to find any "contact us" link. To the developer - it's one thing to be not ready for prime time but another thing entirelly to keep this lousy, bug ridden, game for sale even after you have received many, many complaints. As such you leave us no choice but to view your organization AND the people…. who manage it as nothing more than crooks hell bent on poluting the previously high-quality Apple store with your crap. We all deserve a refund AND an appology and I would also like to see Apple boot these crooks from the App store….. DON'T BUY THIS GAME - IT DOES NOT EVEN RUN…...

Slow and slower - Clever Idea for a game but awful implementation. I am running this on a 2012 iMac with 8Gb ram and it works fine for maybe 10 minutes at a time then I have to exit and restart it due to incredible laggy, almost frozen, response that makes it unplayable. It has also crashed a couple of times in the approximately 5 hours I have been playing it. It seems incapable of running at a usable rate when there is lots of action on the screen, I can predict when it is going to be too slow to be usable and it is repeatable at the same points each time. As a comparison running an old half-life2 game on the same machine is about 10X faster. Just glad I didnt buy it until the price dropped - I wont be buying any more of this companies products

It depends... - This game was somewhere between good and okay. It was worth playing all the way through: if you love history, then you will probably enjoy how the game goes through different settings and time periods. The guns were somewhat limited, but still fun to use. My macbook pro is a late 2011 model and while I haven't touched the game in a while I don't remember having too much issue, except when you open the game may have to fiddle with the video settings to get it to work, but if you figure that out, it's worth a try. I believe i bought this on sale, so my recommendation would be to give it a shot if you can find it on sale again.

Garbage - All I get is a black screen. I am usually an easy grader but this is a total piece of garbage. Take your friends out to Taco Bell instead. You'll feel better about that purchased

Fullscreen doesn't work properly and causes major problems - I have experienced a major problem with this product. Since the windowed version was too big for my monitor (the dock got in the way) i decided to switch to fullscreen. I restarted the game and when it loaded, I got a black screen. This black screen will not go away and covers my entire monitor. I tried to restart my computer, but my Mac automatically reopens any applications for some reason when I log back on. So, when I log back on it remembers I had the game on and it goes directly to a black screen. This makes the game unplayable. Please fix this and I will change my review.

App is Unplayable - I installed the app with compatible graphics cards and O.S. X 10.8.2 but it freezes at the opening sequence of the story mode and refuses to unlock. The same thing happens no matter the graphics or resolution I use. I can't force quit out of the application and it doesn't load no matter how long I wait. I have to force my computer to turn off instead. Do not buy this app because you most likely won't be able to use it at all. It looks like a promising game, but until it's optimized, it's just $15 you'll never see a return on.
