Whether you’re a professional photographer or a passionate amateur, you want three things: perfect images, effortlessly organized, with great publishing and delivery options. Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 is the industry-leading digital darkroom that delivers all three.

In this three-hour tutorial, fine-art photographer and veteran Photoshop instructor Dan Moughamion shows you how to use Lightroom to quickly and effortlessly import, organize, edit, and showcase your images.

Dan dives first into the new Tethered Capture and Import features, showing you how to make your photography workflow more efficient from the start. You’ll learn to capture shots directly from Lightroom, or quickly browse all of your drives to add selected shots to your catalog while effortlessly including metadata and keywords.

Next, Dan shows you how to organize your image catalog so you can sort, find, and group specific images-or types of images--fast. Learn the best ways to compare similar photos while making selections for clients or personal projects. Create Smart
Collections that automatically find and gather the images that meet your criteria. You'll learn key pointers for handling metadata, synchronizing your folders, and updating your library.

When it's time to edit and adjust your images, Lightroom's Develop module offers state-of-the-art image processing, including new noise reduction and lens correction tools. Dan shows you how to easily alter contrast, tune color, convert to black-and-white, add grain, reduce noise, adjust sharpness, and perfect the finest details of your image. You’ll learn to obliterate Luminance Noise from high ISO shots and nail down your exposure with the new custom point Curves. You’ll define color relationships with the powerful Targeted Adjustment tool and the HSL panel, and style your black and white compositions with elegant Split Toning controls. You'll even learn to prepare your bracketed exposures for Photoshop CS5's HDR Pro feature (which you can learn all about in Photoshop 105: Image Retouching & Adjustment.)

Finally, Lightroom offers many options for creatively sharing your finished
shots in print, online, and in presentations. Dan shows you how to get started with elegant web galleries, customized print layouts, dynamic slide show videos with music, and even how to integrate with photo-sharing sites like Flikr.

Re: Great tutorial - This is a great instructional video covering everything you need to know in an organized easy to understand fashion. It is not a trick as a previous reviewer stated. It does what it says in the description. I self taught myself how to use Light Room and this video still taught me a few extra things. Great job Dan!

Yes, the "101" means you are supposed to learn something - Yes, folks, you are not really getting Lightroom at the sale price of $19.99. Maybe this app was originally described differently when it first hit, but that seems pretty clear in the description I read. So as far as an instructional video, how does it stack up? First of all, this format was exactly what I wanted. Something I could take with me on a plane, not need an internet connection to use, and be in small modules that would let me pick up where I left off. The instructor is well known, has written extensively on Lightroom, and is someone I respect as knowing it very well. The organization is pretty good, although at a few points I wanted to stop the video and go play with a feature I had seen but that wasn't described. Maybe just the way I learn, but I like to have every single option explained at once rather than the layered foundational approach that is probably better in the long run. A few things I didn't like… The resolution was really terrible. I don't know if it was shot at a different size and then downsized or upsized to my 1366 res macbook air, but the text of the vido was unreadable. That was a huge deteriment to actually being able to follow where the instructor was or what he was selecting. Regular use of a zoom in might have helped that. Also, it doesn't automatically bookmark the module you were last in, which should have been an easy fix. So all in all, I would have really liked this if the video quality wasn't so bad. And since that is the main purpose of this program, that is almost a show stopper. If you dont mind pretty good voice instruction and screen shots that kind of let you follow along, then this may work for you. Would have rated this 3 stars but adding an extra to make up for the idiots who thought they were buying Lightroom.
