Attention - Cookie Stumbler Basic is discontinued. Please download Cookie Stumbler 2 from our website:

Cookie Stumbler Basic eliminates Ad & Tracking cookies and allows you conveniently to maintain only the cookies on your computer which you really want to keep. This eliminates threats to your privacy and helps your web browsers to run faster.

It will recognize known Ad/Tracking cookies via built-in definitions and so far unidentified Ad/tracking cookies via an intelligent heuristics engine. Cookie Stumbler Basic isn't dependent on advertising companies to "allow" users to opt out as some other applications. It does its job independently and it will do so without interfering when you browse the web.

Cookie Stumbler Basic's purpose is to introduce you to the concept of removing tracking Cookies easily before moving on to the more advanced standard version, so Cookie Stumbler Basic features everything you need in order to get familiar with the concept of deleting Cookies:

• Easy to use user interface
• Cookie Inspector
• Keeplist
• New! Undo functionality
• New! Up-to-date Cookie definitions now available as a convenient in-app purchase.
• Efficient cleaning
• Cleans & scans any number of cookies, unlike other some other cookie managers.
• Low memory & CPU usage

Release Notes:

• Addresses potential hang during the "Analyzing" stage, caused by corrupted Flash cookies.

Yes you are requested to buy an upgrade upon launch... - which is really irritating, but I'm willing to give WriteIt! Studios the benefit of the doubt and believe that this is a result of the Apple App Store update process. I skipped the update. I got over being irritated pretty quick when Cookie found over 6000 tracking cookies on my system. I got rid of the cookies and am keeping the app. I may eventually buy the update (or 'In-App' purchase), but not today.

A completely useless application. - I installed Cookie Stumbler Basic, followed by several of their $0.99 updates. I used it for a month. I found that, rather than deleting cookies, Cookie Stumbler Basic automatically accepted nearly all cookies as if I had appoved them. Thereafter, Cookie Stumbler Basic refused to display the so-called "accepted" cookies. But they were all in Safari, as I found by pressing Ctrl-comma and checking the "Privacy" tab, while Safari was open. I had to delete nearly all cookies through Safari because Cookie Stumbler Basic was useless.

Terrible program - I have used Cookie Stumbler (basic & regular) for some time, but over the past six weeks or so it has stopped working. It constantly crashes, refuses to accept my license, and generally is worthless. I should be able to straighten out the license problems but the web site tells me my account is down for maintenance and it's been that way for 2 weeks now.

Then you have to buy definition updates - Immediately after buying this app, the program asked me if I wanted to buy updated definitions for 99 cents. I assume that each time the definitions are updated, I will then have to buy them. That is not stated in the description and I obviously should not have to buy the most recent definitions when I first download the app. So yes, the application appears to work but this is unacceptable business practice.

Upgrade 2 seconds after buying? - Nothing to feel like you just got taken when you buy a new application and they charge you right away for an upgrade! I am a user, don't treat me like a loser.
