Compartments is a fast, beautiful, easy-to-use app to organize your stuff and do a home inventory. Now enhanced for Yosemite.
Retina-ready, with over 100 beautiful icons to represent your rooms, collections and items, Compartments is more beautiful than ever.
It's great for hobbyists, collectors, and anyone wanting to do a home inventory.
Check out a few of the great things you can do with Compartments:
* Organize Information With Collections *
Match items by specific criteria, and create an auto-updating smart collection that collects all items matching that criteria (for example: all books, or all movies rated G, or all funny t-shirts).
* Track Details About Your Stuff *
Create Item Types for different items you collect, like Stamps, Books or Wine. Set the attributes you want to track (like tracking condition of stamps, authors of books, year of wines). You can even search for those attributes or create smart collections based on them.
* Search For Anything Quickly *
As you search, items automatically filter as you type, so you can find something quickly and learn details about it. Lost something? Search for it in Compartments to find where you left it.
This is a minor bug fix release:
First, an issue that caused Compartments to lose track of what location you were working on when adding items is fixed. Now, after adding a new item, the current location will be remembered when you add another new item.
Second: images dragged in could result in slowing down Compartments over time in the previous version. To fix this if Compartments is sluggish, just edit and re-save the images you've already added. Images added from here on out will not have this problem.
I'm still hard at work on the iOS version, which will be a full featured app that syncs with the Mac app. Thanks for your patience.

System Crash - My system has crashed on four (4) seperate occoasions while attempting to enter a new item. The bottom half of my screen starts to flicker for a few seconds and than I am unable to procede any further without a complete reboot. I use Aperture 3 and photoshop only a daily basis without any issues so I know my system is fine. This is the first time a program that has actually crashed my system on a Mac. Anyone else having this issue? This would be a great program if I can use it. I cannot honestly rate this app becasue I have not had the opportunity to actually try it without a crash. UPDATE: I disabled my anti viris and the program works perfect. The interface is very pleasing and it is very user friendly. To be fair to the vendor, I am now changing my rating to Five (5) stars.
Seriously Disapointed with LittleFin - I have been using this app for a few years and have noticed a steady deline in their attempt to make it perfect. For me the program is almost unusable now. There hasnt been an update in over 6 months all while promising an IOS version. The “printing of reports” is a total joke now. One of the most important parts of the app, in my opinion, was taken away with the latest update. Save your money folks until they step it up.

Updated review - Slow Slow SLOW!!! - Updated Review - I have downgraded my rating to 2 stars as the speed issue has still not been dealt with. I see another review that indicates if I (why I should have to do this is beyond me!) go in and modify all the images I have posted with my entries the speed of the app will improve dramatically. Thats great if you don’t have a few hundred items already entered in the app. The speed of this app is a serious problem. If you are really going to use this app to catalog your belongings be prepared for the frustration that comes with it’s serious lack of speed. I have been using this program for about a year trying to put together a complete home inventory. It works well but is slow to load and seems to get bogged down. If the speed increases I would give it a higher rating. Also would love to see some sort of barcode scanning ability added to simplify entering new items purchased. Just about everything comes with a barcode these days so why not utilize the technology.
lost everything - Had the program since 2011. It was not great back then, but I used it and entered in my inventory. With the DropBox backup/sync I felt good about the flexibility of the program - I could work from my desktop or my laptop. Now the program has changed. Dropbox syncing is gone. And with that feature deletion my whole file is lost! The program will only create a new file. It has no sync AND no ability to open an already created file. The update provided zero documentation about this big change AND their support page also has no instructions. Certainly they should have anticipated this problem and clearly posted a solution. There has got to be something better out there.
Almost Great - The most annoying shortfall in the app is the Buildings feature. That is, one cannot move items between buidings. What this means is for a large collection, if you were to relocate it from one building to another, one must delete all the entries from the existing building, and re-create (one by one) all the items in the new building. I’ve had to discontinue using the building feature as a result. I’m also a bit annoyed about the iOS discount offer. This lead me to believe that the release of the iOS verison is imminent, which is what caused me ot purchase this app. Needless to say, its been quite a while with pretty much no new info on this, making me wonder if there will ever be an iOS version released.
Review update: I would recommend this app now - With the latest update 2.1.2, the developer fixed the issue with the sluggishness of the app. Seems like it had to do with the way the app was storing image files. After going in and edit each item in my lists (I opened the item listing, edited the images just by zooming in a little bit, and then saving the new zoomed in image.) After saving, all of my lists load much more quickly now. Thanks to the developer for listenting to feedback and updating their app. Only reason that’s keeping me from giivng a full 5 stars is the design. Wish it had a more sleek look. The still think the icons and overall look of the app seems outdated. Below is my previous review: My first experience with this product is with version 2.1.1. Running this on my Macbook Air 2011. For me, this program is feels pretty sluggish. When I changes views from one list to another, it takes SEVERAL seconds for the new list to load, even though I may only have only 5 items in the list. Feature-wise it has what I need and I find the product useful. The design could use a makeover. The icons look very outdated and boring, although I can live with it since the functionality is there. However, until the speed issue is fixed, I can’t really recommend this product.
Almost Great, Sans iOS Version - I really liked this app, but had purchased it with the beleif that the mentioned iOS version would be comming out soon. It’s been sveral months since I purhcased the App, and no signs at all of said iOS release. I’ve ended up re-creating all the entries in a general database app in order to be able to sync my data to my phone… It’s unforuante as I really do like the App, it does what it was designed for quite well...
