Work - I downloaded this software from the app store about a week ago since my computer had detected a virus. I also have the Norton antivirus software installed but it has never detected anything. After downloading the ClamXav and running it once it detected 4 different viruses in my computer which were quarantined and subsequently deleted. My MacPro is now working as well as before. I set the ClamXav to update definitions daily which it does without any problem's. Working well for me, I highly recommend this program and will delete the norton antivirus software from my computer ASAP(like right now)...

Kept trying to update - Once I tried opening it would send a "62 error" message and wouldn't let me get past it. I decided to download directly from their site and used the uninstall all previous clam programs icon and then used the reinstalled icon from the pop-up calmxav folder and it works perfectly from there. I think the apple store app is missing a neccessary file to make it work for most people. I would recommend this solution for anyone else who have the same issue.

A necessary application - Since updating my operating system to Yosemite, which I am convinced is highly susceptible to malware and adware, I downloaded this app to see what it could find. For the first time since owning a Mac through every operating system they have ever put out, this scan found three Trojan horses on the system and removed them. Apple seems more interested in their operating system being pretty rather than being safe anymore or being able to connect to Wi-Fi without major issues. So far this application comes highly recommended.

Works as advertised! - Like many of the other reviewers, I was running a well-known commerical AV program. Was having performance issues, so downloaded this - after installing updates, started a scan - already found two trojans that the other software had no clue were there. Running it on a 2011 Macbook Air. Highly recommended!

Never pay for antivirus software for your Mac - I have tried many antivirus software in the past and all were good. However, each anitvirus including the popular ones such as Avast have one irritating issue, adware. ClamXav is the only antivirus that I know of that does not have adware that is built into it’s software. Feature wise, ClamXav has what you expect from a antivirus from scheduling to a sentry feature which will alert you if it discovers malicious software. It can also update it’s definition list daily so it is always up-to-date. Detection wise, it does a good job of detecting malware, trojans, and even adware. While testing if it picked up on the test files that you can download. It did pick up the test files, and even adware that was floating around on my MacBook Pro that other antivirus software have missed. I highly recommend trying this out. Since it is free, you do not need to worry about worrying if you were ripped off if it doesn’t meet your expectations.

Will Not Update via Incremental or Daily since July - Will not retreive virus updates. Consoles shows that “getfile” repeatedly fails to retrieve new definition files. This has been the problem since July.

Great app! It worked immediately! Found it just in time - So happy I found this app and it was free. it puts other apps to shame. It was easy to install and worked immediately! I previously downloaded Max Secure after malware got on my computer and it was absolutely useless. I was so happy I found this app and would recommend it anyone.
