Description:

Camouflage hides your Desktop Icons.

If you have a cluttered Desktop and just don't want to see your icons, or you just want to give a presentation and don't want your audience to see your desktop icons, Camouflage will help.

Sitting in the menu bar, Camouflage is easily accessible and can be quickly used to hide your desktop icons. For extra speedy access you can also configure a HotKey to show and hide your icons.

If there're just too many icons on your Desktop to have any overview over them, just hide them away with Camouflage and double-click your desktop to open a new Finder-Window for your Desktop-folder. Putting this window into list-view will allow for a much better overview over all desktop files instead of viewing them cluttered on the desktop.

Problem fixed now it works! - I had the earlier free version and it worked great. I bought the Lion version and got a message in the Mac App Store that it was not properly installed, but after deleting it and deleting the Camouflage Library folder I still couldn't get the App Store to recognize that it was not installed. (The library folder can be found by typing ~/Library in the Finder Go To Folder dialog and searching for Camouflage under the Application Support folder.) I then searched my hard drive for all references to Camouflage and found the old DMG in downloads, an RTF file in the incompatible apps folder and the incompatible version of Camouflage.app in that same folder. I sent all three of these files to Trash and then re-started the Mac App Store. I went to the Purchases tab and Camouflage could now be installed. It installed correctly and works just great with multiple Desktops.

Update not working... - Last version worked fine on my Lion install - but when attempting to update to V2, i get: “Camouflage” is damaged and can’t be opened. Delete “Camouflage” and download it again from the App Store. Despite doing this multiple times - including restarts - I can't use Camouflage - something i NEED…please fix this!

Great application, but annoying bug - For some reason, the application won’t open at launch, even though the box “Open at Launch” is checked. The app is great at what it does, but having to search for it and open it everytime I restart or turn on my machine is very annoying.

Good but there is a bug! - The setting wont save my hot key anymore. It use to work but not anymore. It jitters when its on and it wont leave my top bar even when i click the deactivation in the app settings. FIX because i love this app! Once the bug is fixed i reccommend everyone to but it!

One Feature Alone Is Worth It - In addition to hiding Desktop icons I especially value the ability to bring a specified Finder window (e.g. Downloads, Desktop, etc.) to the front simply by clicking anywhere on the Desktop. No need for menu or key commands to do that. A problem I was having following migrating files to a new Mac was addressed overnight via email by the developer.

No Menu Icon - If I open the application from my applications folder or dock it begins to hide my desktop, but there isn’t a menu icon that I can access to change options, preferences, etc.
