Description:

Imagine your Mac telling you with bold actions that you have been sitting in front of the screen too long. A machine that refuses to do anything else for you until you rest your eyes and grab some fresh air going for a walk.

Life can be this simple!

Set the time you want to take a break.

A countdown clock will warn you then your screen will darken.

The second setting, which is how long you want the break to be will start counting down.

After the time for your break is up your computer lights up and you are back in control as if nothing happened.

If you want to set up your day or night up in advance simply fill in your break schedule and Break Timer will do the rest,
You may also remind yourself why you are taking a specific break.

iLifeTouch making apps that make your life easier one day at a time.

Do stuff timer! - I don't use this a break timer but a timer to do other things that drag me away from my laptop. So for example if I have to make a phone call at 11:30 I set the break and allow 10 minutes. In this fashion I set up many slots that help me remember and manage my day a whole lot better. The app is so user friendly. I am a now offically a fan of this company.

Ugly and blatant ripoff of BreakTime - I've been trying out bunches of break timers and this one is a blatant ripoff (and an ugly one at that) of BreakTime. The one feature it has that BreakTime doesn't, is the ability to setup 5 separate timers that are scheduled throughout the day. This feature is pretty poorly designed though. The app itself is also pretty buggy – the popover window will close when you're working on it for example. The developer also makes another app that does exactly the same thing, with a slightly different theme, called Coffee Break. Whole thing is pretty lame.

Nice app - Nice and beautiful simple timer. Two suggestions: update for retina and possibility to see time left

Disappointed - I use this app everyday and have had it for maybe 10 months. It nearly has the functionality I want but falls short due to several bugs. Bug #1: My goal was to use the daily planner with fixed breaks that would repeat every workday. You can configure your planner and it works for one day, but the next day the alarms don't trigger. I reported this bug and was assured it would be resolved, but it has been over 9 months without a single update from the vendor. I've worked around this with a simple Automator script which quits and relaunches the app every morning, but I don't like being told a problem will be fixed when apparently there was never any intention of doing so. Bug #2: Schedule breaks sometimes don't go off. Not sure why, but it is a small thing. Bug #3: Clicking away the break alert before the countdown is finished often doesn't work and the screen greys out anyway. Bug #4: sometimes the countdown times are way inaccurate. This one is weird and I just ignore it. This is a super simple app. It only needs to do a couple of things well. Instead the vendor creates dozens of different timers (Coffee Break, Coffee Break Pro, Pill Break, Water Break, Break Timer, Office Alarm, Tick Tock, etc. etc. etc.) and none of them get the proper amount of attention because the developer's main interest is money, not quality. I waited along time to give these guys a chance to follow through on their promise but I'm afraid the time is up. BE WARNED: if you buy apps from iLifeTouch you will not have a demo to confirm their marketing promises and chances are that the app won't improve over time.

A Good Idea Whose Time Hasn't Come - This application has a great deal of potential, but the current version has some serious problems. Apparently, the only way to access it is an icon in the menu bar. However, the menu bar on my Macbook, where I installed it, is quite full, and no such icon appeared. Nor did the program appear in the Dock or the open program list. So, not only could I not access the program to change the settings but I couldn't even turn it off. To uninstall it, I had to take it off the login list in System Prefs then restart. I liked the functionality, but the above make it impossible for me to use the application in its present state. I don't have time to mess with it.
