Provides completely automatic beats-per-minute detection using computational music analysis algorithms. Audio recorded by your Mac is analyzed in real-time resulting in very high precision bpm results. No tapping is required. This is indispensable software for professional DJs.
- Fast and high precision analysis
- No tapping required
If you want to analyse the music that is playing on the Mac, please use software like SoundFlower to reroute the audio on your Mac. A tutorial for setting up SoundFlower to work with the Beat Monitor can be found here: http://cubiccarrot.tumblr.com/post/25683343809/beat-monitor-for-mac-soundflower-tutorial
Some feedback received for this app:
Robin - "Just a brief note to let you know that Beat Monitor works with line in/line out on my Mac, and with CDs played on the drive as well. It's exactly what I've been looking for!"
Some reviews of the iPhone/iPad version of this app:
Beat -- "This app is a GIFT FROM THE GODS THAT WALK THE EARTH. lol This is a Bad azz app! Samples, Reforge and This...I can't lose. hahaha"
How's My App -- "i love it"
Uwe -- "Great App. I'm using it to monitor the 'steadyness' of my band's performance while rehearsing."
Craig - "Nearly indispensible - I use this app loads, usually for sorting my new vinyl into BPM order, but I have also used it when playing out for that helping hand. (...)"
ab.eccolo - "hopefully in an update to use it without sound flower"
Note that functionality provided by sound flower cannot be included in an app that is distributed through the App Store. I will keep an eye open for alternatives, but it is unlikely that the app will work without sound flower for analyzing music that is playing on the Mac in the near future.
If you experience difficulties with the app, please ask for assistance ([email protected]).
If there are any features you would like to see in Beat Monitor please let me know.
