Very unique - I've never played a game quite like this, but I like it! Unlike the typical 'pick a target to fire at' in most games, you actually have to estimate the angle and distance for your shots. It's a bit tough at first but after a few rounds you quickly get the hang of it. It's something that you keep getting better at and it's soooo satisfying when you hit your target! There's 2 campaigns, but the Japanese one is really short, so hopefully more missions will get added. It also needs multiplyer online, playing on the same computer is a bit 90s. Overall it's a really cool and unique strategy/simulation game that I'm happy to support.

Not running. This might be a great game, but I can't tell - I installed this on my Macbook Pro because this game looks like it's right up my alley. But each time I click to start it up, it tries to start-up but then quits before reaching the title screen. I really would like to play this game.

Needs some work (DOCUMENTATION) but shows promise. - 1st, for the price, I guess its not bad, buy it for $2 bucks and support their effort in producing a nicer game. It lacks documentation so that takes one star off. If they produce some updates as they say, it may make the game better. The thing I don't like is the guns on the ships once fired can't be refired until the next "round" and once the heading is set, you can't change that either until the next round. Also, there is NO way to judge the range to the target, i.e. no angle on the fire or distance, so it is a guess every time you fire. The computer though seems to get it right after a few a few rounds of play! If they really want to make the game a 5 star game they need to put some range in the controls so if you miss the range can be adjusted with some sort of accuracy. Also, NOT all guns have the same range so if you have fired one that comes short, the next gun may fire long as it may not be the same type gun. I reject the comparison to the game battleship as with that game, if you make a hit, you will score another within 3-4 shots or less and could sink that ship. With this game that is impossible in its current form. THIS IS AN UPDATE TO MY ORIGINAL REVIEW ABOVE, THE GAME LACKS DOCUMENTATION AS I'VE SAID EARLIER, BUT AFTER FIGURING OUT SOME OF THE GAME FUNCTIONS, I.E. RANGE SETTINGS WHEN YOU FIRE, THE GAME IS REALLY MUCH BETTER AND AS A RESULT, I HAVE UPGRADED MY ORIGINAL 3 STAR RATING TO ****. IT IS A FUN GAME AND AFTER SINKING SOME ENEMY SHIPS AND SEEING WHAT DAMAGE IS INFLICTED ON YOUR SHIPS IT IS WELL WORTH THE DOWNLOAD. NOT BEING A TOTAL GAMER, I RATHER LIKE SOME BASIC INSTRUCTIONS AND WOULD HOPE THEY INCLUDE SOME IN THE FUTURE. FOR NOW, DOWNLOAD THE GAME AND ENJOY IT.

Fun WW2 strat game! - This games has lots of potential. Originally I got it for the iPad, but it's nice to play it on a bigger screen and for $1.99 it is definitely worth it. The game isn't really historically accurate, it's more "inspired" by actual events. The campaign mode is really fun, great to see 2 campaigns to play through. I really hope they add a multiplayer component so I can test my skills against other ship captains. Overall I really like the game! 5 stars! can't wait to see what improvements they make.

I Like This Game - I usually do not take the time to write reviews, but I really like this game. I read someone else's review suggesting that the game play was similar to the old Star Fleet Battles board game, and since I liked that game (many years ago), I thought I would give it a try. I think the suggestion was a valid one, as I discovered that I like playing this more than the classic Star Fleet Battles board game. I like a turn-based naval battle game, where there is some strategy, and you get to command several ships and fire their guns at multiple enemy vessels. This game plays well, and the animation, sound effects, and detail on the ships is very well done. I think the game has a lot of potential, and hope the developers continue to add new features. I have already made several suggestions to the developers, and the feedback received from them indicates that they are continuing to add to the game. I quickly figured out how to estimate the range to a target, but trying to get the angle correct is sometimes a challenge. My solution is to concentrate all of the guns available on one of your ships upon the same target, and fire multiple guns at the same enemy ship. If the first round hits off target, I change the angle (and range if necessary) for the next salvo in order to correct for the miss. This technique can be very deadly, and subsequent rounds hitting directly on target can cause a lot of damage. I also have the iPad version.

Aye, Captain! - I gave this game 5 stars because, while it's not perfect, it's been totally engaging. I paid only $2, so that adds to the value of the game. The game is a little clunky at first, but you get the hang of the controls quickly. Hints to players: Standard guns seem to be the best combo of power and range. Use AA guns to protect your self from aircraft carriers. I use a straight edge across my screen to aim my guns. If you can angle your boat to get off a full broadsides, the extra shots really help! As with turn based games, concentrating your fire on one enemy reduces the amount of fire you face. Gauge the distance so you, not the enemy, gets off the first shot. Request to developers: simulating wind would make the game more challenging and fun. Smaller boats in this game are too powerful. They should only be allowed to carry weak guns. Furthermore, I want some 16 inch poppers on my battleships. Why is the aircraft carrier so weak? WWII proved the carrier reigned supreme at sea.
