ArchiveMaker supports archiving and backing up large files to CD and DVD. It can split large files and directories so that they span multiple discs. When restoring, the original file or directory is restored regardless of how large it is. There is no file or directory size limit.

ArchiveMaker also helps you to archive and backup data from your old Time Machine snapshots so that you can be extra safe and save old versions of files before Time Machine is forced to erase them and they're lost forever.

Is your hard drive is filling up with huge media files? Have you run out of room because of large video files? Need a way to save those precious memories that fill up your drive with files that are too big to archive to a CD or DVD?

ArchiveMaker allows you to archive those files to free up space.

No file or directory size limit. Files are spanned across as many discs as necessary.
Archival supports skipping a disc or burning multiple copies of any disc.
Archive plan may be saved and reused later, or used to burn multiple copies of some or all discs.
The entire list of files in the archive is stored on each disc in a set. This allows easy searching through a large archive for desired files.

Wow - I have been looking for something like this for a LONG time. - This archives folders without turning the files into a proprietary mess that large/expensive archiving software does. Once burnt - you DO NOT have to rely on the program to unarchive. This copies straight to disk quickly AND provides a library to unarchive from if you chose to do so. It's about time somebody has a clue and releases a program like this. Kudos!

Simple and straightforward...and it works! - After looking at several other options which claimed to support disk spanning, but did not allow for burning across multiple disks, I found ArchiveMaker to be a great solution. Backups are easy, with a straightforward interface. Also nice that archives include, by default, an app to re-assemble spanned files in case your computer in the future does not have the original software installed. Yet another reason this former PC user is happy to have switched to the Mac.
