Description:

Able2Extract 8 is the first cross platform PDF converter compatible on the Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux platforms. Able2Extract for Mac is a powerful PDF Converter tool that lets users convert their PDFs into the Word, Excel, and PowerPoint formats generated by the Mac version of Microsoft Office.

Able2Extract 8 for Mac contains features that offer an intuitive and versatile approach to converting PDF documents. Firstly, Able2Extract contains multiple conversion output formats. In addition to converting PDF to Excel, editable Word documents, and PowerPoint presentations, Able2Extract can also convert PDF to HTML, PDF to Text, and PDF to Auto CAD (.dwg, .dxf). Moreover, Able2Extract’s PDF to Image conversion options allows graphic designers using Mac OS X to extract images from PDFs and reuse them in other image editing applications. Able2Extract can convert PDF to JPG, PDF to GIF, PDF to PNG, PDF to TIFF, and PDF to BMP, and allows designers to select their desired DPI resolution, image quality and dimension settings, among other options.

Secondly, users have the added benefit of increasing their productivity by performing mass conversions to all output formats with Able2Extract’s batch conversion functionality. Files can be scheduled and automated for conversion with a single click. PDFs converted by Able2Extract to formats supported by Office for Mac 2011 are compatible with the Windows version of Office. No productivity is lost due to a difference in system.

Lastly, this latest version includes a navigational side bar that lets users view thumbnails, bookmarks, and attachments. Users can get a quick structural overview of their PDF while navigating through the entire file. Able2Extract also has its own proprietary PDF viewer that allows users to select exactly what they want to convert. Users can then start the conversion process directly from the command toolbar, the menu or via keyboard shortcut. In addition, multiple PDFs can be opened at any given time and easily accessed through the tabbed view. Able2Extract is a standalone application that does not require Adobe Acrobat or any other plug ins to function.

I revised my review from 1 Star to 5 Stars - This is a wonderful application, and I encourage anyone who is frustrated by the difficulty of extracting tabular data from PDFs with Acrobat, Preview, PDFPen, and others to buy this app. This app makes getting data out of documents a breeze, and is very smart about formatting it and putting in your desired medium (Excel, etc.). One caution: You might want to wait for the next App Store update if you are running the latest version of Mavericks. I had problems accessing PDFs after what I think was an update to Mavericks 10.9.1. However, the investech support staff worked with me to resolve the issue and said the revised version would fix the glitch I had encountered. It did, for me, with tests on their beta version. This app belongs in any writer or researcher’s toolkit. SwedeP

Not working - Downloaded the program after looking at their working demo on there regular site. Download starts - but the wont let you select and PDFs — they are greyed out in the finder. Needs to be fixed — program does not function with that bug.
